Connemara Pony Breeders Society League Winners 2012

18 December 2012 – News from Eventing Ireland


The Connemara Pony Breeders Society League concluded at the end of the season. To be eligible for the League, which was announced in January 2012, the pony must be pure bred Connemara, registered with the CPBS.


A total of 20 Connemara Ponies were registered with Eventing Ireland in 2012, and out of those 16 competed in the Novice and Pre-Novice Leagues, with several ponies competing in both! Points were awarded on its placing at a competition for all national events competed during the 2012 season.


We are delighted to announce Tessa Harley riding Creemully Melody (owned by Julia Harley) won the Novice League on 37 points with seven Connemara’s taking part in this League during the year. Julia, Tessa and Creemully Melody were presented with a rosette and a cheque for €150 from Ann Reid of the CPBS.


Gretta O’Mahony riding her own Christopher Robin gained 53 points and topped the League of 14 eligible ponies and was awarded €100 and a rosette, presented by Fran O’Neill, Chairman of the Munster Region on behalf of the CPBS.


Ann Reade of the Connemara Pony Breeders Society said “The Connemara Pony Breeders Society is delighted to be associated with Eventing Ireland, and to sponsor the highest placed registered Connemara Pony at Pre novice, and Novice level. This year has seen a record number of our Native breed competing, and hopefully next year will see even more at these events, which further demonstrate the versatility of the pony. We congratulate the 2012 winners, and look forward to the 2013 season.”.
